About AFCD
African Fund for Community Development works with grassroots communities to create pathways out of poverty through locally led solutions, partnerships and practical livelihood opportunities.
Who We Are
African Fund for Community Development (AFCD) is a Kenyan national organization committed to empowering communities to overcome absolute poverty through locally driven development solutions.
AFCD works with organized grassroots groups, women, youth, farmers, savings groups, persons with disabilities and community enterprises to strengthen livelihoods, dignity and resilience.

Why We Exist
Across western Kenya, many grassroots groups are already organized and working to improve their lives. However, they often struggle to access small grants, equipment, training, mentorship, markets and development partnerships.
AFCD exists to bridge this gap by identifying community-led initiatives, documenting their needs, and connecting them with opportunities that help them grow.
Our Vision
Communities empowered to overcome poverty and build sustainable livelihoods.
Our Mission
To connect grassroots communities with resources, skills, partnerships and opportunities that strengthen livelihoods, dignity and resilience.
Our Approach
AFCD believes that communities are not passive recipients of aid. They are active agents of change with ideas, skills, networks and local knowledge that can drive development when connected to the right opportunities.
Identify
We identify organized grassroots groups and document their priorities, strengths and development needs.
Connect
We connect groups with funding opportunities, technical support, equipment, training, mentorship and market linkages.
Strengthen
We support communities to build stronger livelihoods, accountable leadership and sustainable local development systems.
Our Core Values
Integrity
We act with honesty, transparency and accountability.
Inclusion
We believe women, youth, persons with disabilities and vulnerable groups must not be left behind.
Partnership
We work with others to expand opportunities and deepen impact.
Community Ownership
Communities should lead their own development priorities and solutions.
Sustainability
We support solutions that continue creating value beyond short-term assistance.
Dignity
We approach communities with respect and recognize their capacity to shape their own futures.
Where We Work
AFCD currently works with communities in six counties in western Kenya.
